Default Honda 400hp outboard

I have heard from 2 different Honda dealers that they will be coming out with a 400hp outboard. Should be interesting being that they haven't done much to their outboards in a long time.

Straight from a 250 to a 400?
Right up Honda's market.

It is a shame that Honda has always been half hearted in the marine industry. It would nice to see what they could do if they really cared to enter the outboard industry.

I would be very surprised if a 400hp Honda outboard materialized.

They don't even have a 400hp car engine. I seriously doubt this

Acura NSX is what, 570+ hp? Im sure they could do it. Im not real sure they would go from not caring about even going over 250 to trying for the 400 market all of a sudden.

Don't underestimate V-tec. I bet it will be 400 hp at 9k RPM. Torque will 150 ft/lbs at 4k.

They had that concept outboard back in 2017 that was nsx inspired. Im not sure or they ever said anything about the power it had or if just showing off the styling. It would be nice if they did have a new 400 or even 300 come out .

Honda was big into four strokes and should have owned the outboard market but for some reason they never became a major player. Other than on the transom of CG boats, I rarely see any.

Possibly a high spoiler and coffee can exhaust out the side of the cowling. Easy xtra 150hp.

Probably end up being the same weight as hanging a Detroit 8V71 off the transom. I'm joining the ranks of the THT naysayers

The gas engine is only 500hp, the rest is electric. But I'll give you this one. If you spend $160k on a special order car from acura (still not honda) you get slightly more hp then a $34k camaro

If anyone can make a mark in this market I would bet on Honda. Of course I am looking at this from the standpoint of the quality of their other products. I always wondered why they didn't do more in the marine biz from the get go....

Had Hondas on last boat 225s, they were not bad engines but not many Honda dealers to get warranty work, a little on the heavy side but solid overall, think if they are aggressive in the market they could sell 400s
