Default Yamaha F300XCA trim tab anode no longer has fin?

I’m trying to replace a lower unit trim anode on my 2017 F300
Part number 61A-45371-00-00 has the adjustable fin, is no longer being made, and is superseded by 6CE-45373-00-00 that is a flat anode with no fin.

Shouldn’t it have the fin on there to turn evenly?

Not sure where you are getting your info from. The OEM is still made and available.

If you have twins get rid of the stupid fin anyhow.

Im actually getting the info from a order I placed, that is one of your links

boats.net are the ones that told me this info, and even changed the part number after you order and shipped out a flat anode

One would think so. Guess they are just going to force the single engine operators to deal with P factor.

On the other hand, there is so much misunderstanding about engine trim maybe they decided to simply give up.

So what is the solution here? Certainly we aren't just supposed to deal with the pull in single apps due to no fin or am I missing something?

You driving that F300 with cable steering?
I cannot remember the last time we set a "trim anode" for "pull".

Isometrics. Any boater who can't handle the torque effect of a 300 shouldn't be on the water.

No, but I did notice a pull with my uflex hydraulic steering which went away when I adjusted tab to counter it immediately. I run my f300 as a single, no twins here.

For what it's worth, my new mercury v6 does not have a finned anode.

Not sure about the F300, but the SHOs have a bend in the skeg that is suppose to compensate for steering torque.

Aside from the dick swinging contest, does anybody have a definitive answer as to why Yamaha did away with the fin?

Does the new part have a port for the prop shaft cooling water?

I noticed I lost my relatively new anode on a recent trip and went to order a new one when I noticed the superseding part number. The lack of fin saves me a little work as I was going to have to trim the fin to fit my new Enertia Eco prop.
