Default Carolina Boat Styling / Ratios

My Father and I have always had a dream of designing and building a boat together. We have been working together on this project off and on from quite some time and are getting to the point where we need to start finalizing some details. I have the preliminary design pretty much complete.

The LOA is 25'-6" with a beam of 8'-6". It should displace around 5300lbs. The plan is to run a large single (probably a Yamaha 300). We are Carolina guys and have designed this boat to the best of our abilities to have that distinctive Carolina styling that boats around here are known for.

There will be a large fishbox forward of the console as well as a transom fishbox. The leaning post will have rear facing seating with a livewell underneath.

One of the things that I noticed about most Carolina boats is that the aft face of the console is normally close to even with the shear break. In my opinion this creates a very small cockpit (especially with the rear facing seating on the leaning post). I have moved our console forward of the shear break slightly to get what I think is a better balance of space.

With all of that said, before I start doing weight studies and nailing things down in place I would like some opinions on what I have to this point. Ratios. Does the console appear too far forward? Are there any features that I should consider?

I realize the hardtop and frame need some work. I am not finished with those yet. The hardtop will probably end up a little smaller and a little lower.

Thanks for any input!

Thank you. I have several screen shots of the Willis 30 among others that I have used as reference.
