Default Boat Insurance Company

Let me start by saying I despise Insurance Companies. They want their payment but normally do everything possible not to pay you. That being said. I bought boat Insurance from Safeco because it was the lowest cost. My boat apparently from Fire investigator had an electrical short and burned. It was a total loss. I contacted Safeco at 08:00 AM. The adjuster called me back before 09:00. After about 10 questions and sending a few pictures. I was told my claim would be paid for the full coverage. I got a confirmation E-Mail the following day confirming my payment had been approved and was being sent. I would now recommend Safeco to anyone looking for Boat Insurance. No argument no grief no run around. They did exactly what people expect when a loss happens. Just my experience with them.

Something like this just happened to my neighbor the other day. Went to work, house caught fire...a total loss....Last thing they wanted to worry about was dealing with the insurance company...they had the same experience, very professional and no issues...I think I've complained about my last insurance premium...insurance isn't for what might happen...it's for when things happen...

Pics of boat? Just curious and not doubting a word you said. Total value of the claim?

I'm a marine surveyor, last year we did almost 600 claims. We work for most of the major insurance companies that write boats. Though Safeco is not a client, your experience is typical in the boating world. Can't talk about car adjusters, motorcycle adjusters, home adjusters, health insurance, etc. but our clients look for ways to pay claims, not vice versa. I'll probably get a few howls here about how bad someone got treated, but I'm telling you that's the exception. And most of the complainers want something more than what the policy provides.

OBTW thanks for posting something positive here!

I'm also in the business and I too see the insurance co finding ways to cover a loss. But we are on the internet so that just can't be true.

OP good to hear of your experience. Thanks for posting.

I am in the insurance business and our office handles hundreds of claim a year. I have posted this before but more often than not adjusters find ways to help get claims paid. Sure I have seen a few where the adjuster and insured are just not seeing eye to eye. For example I have a home claim right now, about $28,000 for a broken pipe. My insured is flat out demanding the carrier pay for things that are not damaged, he is literally trying to do a makeover of an area of his house. As well, he is refusing to provide an accurate or even basic list of contents - so he is getting a flat amount until he provides some rudimentary list....every once in a while we have these but for the most part I think adjusters are looking to help out.

you should update your thread title to be more descriptive... i.e. "safeco boat insurance positive experience boat fire total loss"
