Default verado power steering pump question

My Pump in working intermittingly. There is a red isolator wire that is hard to trace. Anyone know where it ends up, or have any suggestions. The pump is for trip 350 yamahas on a contender
thanks

It is typically because the pump is overheating and shutting off. There are several threads about the overheating pump and how to correct. How many hours on the engines and pump? Is this an older set up and this has recently started acting up or a new set up?

The red on mine runs to the APS (automatic power switch), but I have Verados. Almost every issue with intermittent power seems to be battery related issues.

The set up is on a 2018 boat with 600 hours. Last time it went out was at the dock when motors could not be over heated. Also had a full shore power charge.
Where is the APS switch located. I think its a loose connection somewhere.
thanks

I responded to your pm. Mine is located by my batteries. Here’s a pic of the Mercury APS.

A 2018 model should have the new Victron battery combiners instead of the original APS.
