Default Can I repower with joystick controls

Hi Folks,
I am considering purchasing a Boston Whaler 305 Conquest. I am wondering if it would be feasible to buy a 2006ish boat and re power it rather than buying a newer one. Also, if I did choose to re-power, is it possible to re power with Mercury 300s and joystick control?

Thank you for your input.

Yes you could re-power and add joystick controls in my experience, but you would have to go through a mercury dealer and it will probably be pricey.
Or you could re-power with Suzuki or Yamaha and add Sea star joystick controls, might be cheaper but not sure.
IF you want mercury and are local to Palm Beach I would call Boathouse Marine in Riviera Beach

Thanks for the reply! I do want to stick with Mercury. Well at least until I see the price. LOL.

Be sure that you are sitting down when you read the price and installation estimate for the joystick features.

SeaStar Optimus EPS with 360 Joystick can be added to Mercury Verados. According to SeaStar’s site, even the Verado V8s are compatible. This is the only option for existing vessels.

You will have to go through a certified Optimus dealer, preferably one that is a Mercury dealer as well. Check the Optimus dealer locator and Mercury’s as well for one who handles both and may be near you.

Mercury’s factory Joystick Piloting system is only available to OEMs for new boat builds. Nothing available at the dealer level.

alot cheaper to just learn how to drive a boat!

call paramedics and have them on scene before asking joystick pricing!
