Default Night Vision Binoculars for $40, any good? (Picture)

Did a Home Depot Run today for usual “stuff”, these binos caught my eye, possible useful for boating at night..
Will try ‘em after sun is down tonight, in the meantime: Anybody else experienced these?

I'm to going guess as good as a $10 hooker. 1st clue is HD is selling binoculars. 2nd clue is 2-stars out of 130 reviews and I'm willing to bet those that gave it anything more than 1 have never looked thru NVGs.
flbassjag and alfnator like this.

Especially compared to gen 3 and up...Right now, nightvision is definitely a get what you pay for world. Though I’m interested to see where ‘digital’ nightvision is going, should be the more affordable option when it gains traction.

The ad is laughable and directed toward the gullible. They are not "night vision" which uses electronics similar to a TV camera to immensely amplify light and display an electronic image.
This Atomic Beam binoc apparently just has cheap optics in a cheap case and a green illuminator so it's ""night vision" is similar just using a green flashlight.

Read the customer reviews that report the essentially false advertising and cheap plastic construction. As one customer reported , it might be something kids could use for hide and seek.
Usable night vision Gen 3+ is expensive .

Night vision for $40.00?
Hell you couldn't buy the old starlight versions for that

Those are the ones with Atomic Beam laser and will work during day and night use, but not any other time.

Yeah, too good to be true.
Poor cell phone reception in the Home Depot building, can’t read reviews when shopping.
Returning the “Night Vision Binoculars” tomorrow or the next day.
Got side tracked tonight: Had to be towed home, Towboat US did a great job, total waiting time 1 hour,
First time towed after 15 years with towing insurance and another 15 years without towing insurance.
Painless.

I picked up one. Not bad for $40.

It uses a wide beam laser illuminator like I use for hog hunting. Animals dont seem to be bothered by the green light so yes you can use these at night.

10x is hard to hold still so I expect the TNT muppet whiners will not be able to use them.

Keep forgetting to take it and see what it does on the water but works great on a street sign 2 blocks away.
