Default Yamaha paint code

Is it possible to get the paint code for a Yamaha outboard from the serial number? I have some cowling damage.

excuse my ignorance here ,
i took the part # to the paint matching place and they did not come up with anything on the computer that matched the code, the guy (older bloke) attempted to eye match it but it flopped off different once clear coat was applied.
he sent me to another place where they had a scanner , it was a close match ,however , i ended up painting the entire motor to get it to look decent..

i wish i knew that all i needed was the last 2 digests to get a coded match

It doesn't give you a code match.
It gives you the Colorrite Code for that engine.
Colorrite does not give out the code, even to Yamaha Dealers.

I think what you are looking for is a particular paint supplier's colour code for a specific Yamaha paint colour code. A cross reference if you will.

Some suppliers have it and some don't.

As far as I know there is no world wide code for paint colours and finishes. It will be along shortly after world peace has been obtained.

Bringing this back to the top! I started looking for the paint code this morning after one of my guys scratched my port side cowling After extensive search I found this thread. Mine are 2018 F300XCA and the last 2 digits are 00 which doesn't come up on Color Rite. I didn't realize it would be such a hassle to get a Yamaha paint code! I will have to get new decals as I will paint the whole cowling. I might just paint both cowlings using my Standox base and clear so they will be extra chiny! If I can't get a code, I can use our camera but I was hoping to get a code. Am I out of luck on a code?

Alexseal has a metallic base/clear that will match. Look for "ahamay grey". Awlgrip also has it in their SE line. I've done newer cowlings with both and they matched just fine.

Thank you! I just looked them up. What code do you use for Awlgrip? I found the SE in the Awlcraft, is that right? Is the Alexseal something that local shops carry or does it have to be ordered. I know I can get Awlgrip from my supplier. I just don't know what code to tell them.

Match, as in match if you do the whole cowling or match to spot paint a cowling?

A local supplier to me has about 6 different shades of yamaha grey to pick from. Or they would custom match if you bring a part in. Did these 2 cowlings and it was very close just by picking the one swatch that looked closest.

I will paint both cowlings if I have to but I would like them to be as close as possible to the rest of the motor. My supplier gave me all the materials a few months ago to paint them both white but I now think the Factory Yamaha color goes better on my boat. I’m not sure my camera would pick up the metallic and turn out close enough. I am having them try it now and will do a spray out card.

Looks real good. What year/model is the motor?

its E1114 Yamaha Outboard Grey Metallic. Available in quarts (plenty to do 3-4 cowlings). Same activator and reducer as the clear you have to overcoat with, get a quart of all three.

I've never known of anyone to get a decent blend with any metallic repair.

Good, was wondering if it was just us.
We won't "touch up" a cowling.

My guys are pretty good at spot repairs on jobs we painted to start with, but not so good on others.

I thought so. The color is a little different on the new 4.2's I have a good code for the 3.3's. But I do like your decals. Since I have to order a new decal set I may look for something different. Thank you!

Yeah but this time they've got a really picky "customer" to satisfy!
