Looking at buying a boat with this engine.

No. It most likely has Teleflex Seastar hydraulic.

Thx, what I have heard I think is on G2 models and is an upgrade.

Etec steering issued are only with the g2 models. The g2's have an integrated steering system that may be problematic. The g1's use separate external steering systems such are sea star that are problem free.

Thanks, that settles it for me. Now if I could just find a dealer to service it when necessary all would be good for me.

Closest dealer to my 2nd home in Tenn is over 70 miles. Moving there fulltime next year.
