Default What's up with Evinrude (BRP)?

Forget the Mercury forthcoming no-news event, what is going on with the other Wisconsin company?

What is the new story? A four stroke of some kind?

Two stroke touting to be diminished? A four stroke offering would help.

Interested. Two strokes market share has been declining for over a decade. Consumers want four strokes.

Better to not sell than to sell to a competitor? So how is that working out for poor Alumacraft wannabe customers who can't get their power of choice? By a company and sales miraculously plummet? Not good.

It's either they are partnering with Mercury to offer a 4 stroke line or, or, since they are owned by a Canadian company ,every new Evinrude now comes with a free copy of Bryan Adams latest record plus an autographed picture of him. Maybe, it's both. I don't know just speculation on my part.

At least they are man enough to man up and admit a screw up.

On the other hand, are they kidding themselves that it was a lack of a message that caused the product not to do well, and not the product itself?

What is one way to address engine noise? Could it be a four stroke? With a turbodrivensupercharger that helps to reduce exhaust noise?

It's not a 4 stroke. They can reduce noise and focus the marketing on the advantages of their etecs instead of focusing on the number of strokes. At least that's how I would interpret those quotes.

really? Do you sit there and wait for quarterly announcements and post up random quotes with your ill-conceived thoughts on what they mean?

That’s the Yamaha fanboy and bRP ttroll, stowaway. He was a tad late jumping on the non BRP “press release” on the new 115 due to be announced soon, though. Too busy making up this crap..

Actually I didn't get anything like any of what's being said above from his comments.
He knows the market.....Pontoon boats are taking off......he's looking 8-12 years in the future....pretty smart thinking I'd say...
Sounds like he's 100% behind etec and the technology....he thinks they need to do a better job of explaining why they are better to those that can't easily comprehend it......
He also thinks they need more platforms out there to put their engines on to get more people to experience it rather than just to buy what they are being "sold"......

I'm not an Etec fan. I could give a crap, I'll never own another one.
