Unhappy Steering Fluid Leak

Hoping to get some pointers here from you knowledgeable Boaters. Recently noticed on my last trip that the steering required a lot more input to turn (way more turns lock to lock).
Last weekend I tried adding steering fluid, making certain to release the purge valves by the steering mechanism then holding bottle with extension tube with one hand while cranking steering with the other. Instead of bleeding out by the valve it poured out from under steering itself. Do you think I have a broken steering box? See photos attached.
Boat is a 2004 Wellcraft V21 with 04 Evinrude 200 Fitch.

Cant post pics until you have 10 posts. Is a Seastar helm? Where is the oil coming out of? Typical issue is the seal behind the steering wheel which is an easy fix.
