Default Damage Someone's Trailer at the Boat Ramp?

Got started late yesterday. Had to park across the street in overflow parking. I want to thank the morons in cars with no trailers for using up the front row. You know the easy ones to park and recover trailers in the TRAILER PARKING AREA. Park somewhere at the ends and 2 cars deep. You can get out easier then those towing trailers. Think about someone else for a change. Better yet meet at the boat owners house so you can go later and help clean and put away the boat.

I parked in the next logical spot behind another vehicle with a trailer. Plenty of room in every direction in case I need to back up later. Most times the guy in front is gone when I return so its wide open to leave driving forward.

It's a big @$$ triple axel trailer for a cat. Very hard to miss. I want to thank the POS who can't drive for clipping my left trailer light. Hit it pretty hard. Guess I'm lucky he didn't take out the tires on that side too.

No note left of course. Should have seen this under my wiper blade. "I'm really sorry I damaged your trailer. I want to make it right. Please call me xxx-xxx-xxxx, I'll come over and help you fix it. What kind of beer shall I bring?" Signed responsible boat owner.

I would have called him and said thanks for the note. I'm drinking whatever you bring. I'll pick up the light. How about 6 PM Monday. We could have ended up friends. Instead I'm looking for someone with matching damage and he'll know friends ain't on the menu. Probably won't find him but I'm still looking for that POS.

Don't be that guy.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve pulled my boat down to Mission Bay and had to just go home due to people who should not be allowed to pull trailers double parking etc. I came back once and my trailer was blocked in. Unbelievable, I had to disconnect my trailer, roll it back, swing around and reconnect. The trailer is a double axle very heavy, luckily two guys helped me or I would not have been able to handle it.
I have yelled to the police down there a few times and they do nothing at all that I see.

I have had my trailer hit multiple times while out on the water. Never a note! Usually a broker taillight or bracket.

I did hit a car with my trailer one time. Very steep ramp and a couple drove their car down the boat ramp so they could feed the ducks out their side window.
Couldn't see the car but felt the trailer I beam go through his door. He ended up with a ticket, not me. Sign was post “no vehicles with out trailers”.
Nice leo.

If I had a nickel for every time my trailer was damaged, I would have at least one tank of fuel (Joke) It happens all the time. The last pain in the ass, Dads range rover, double jet ski trailer, tried to BACK into the spot, his bunk right in my taillight. Waited with Collier sheriff for him to come back. 16 year old entitled boy with his entitled girlfriend. Father lawyer shows up, tries to throw cash at me to not press charges.....

My trailer has been hit twice. The results were a broken tail light and a bent guide pole.

Obviously no no note in either incident.

I have also came back with a friend in his boat to find one of wheels stolen off his trailer.

Sorry, no pictures of that, was 30 years ago before easy phone picts. I had a bar hitch installed and we fished every weekend with the 17’ Malibu cc. Was a rolled edge boat and very light. 70 hp Evinrude.
Camaro was not fast with a V6 but a chick magnet.
Looked almost identical to this photo I found.

Exactly correct they should have left a note.
But I bet it's better than 50% chance they hit you with their trailer.
And what with trying to open the ride home beverage, text a friend and read all the emails they missed while out on the water, they ain't got a clue.
Probably notice their damage in a day or two and think someone hit them.

" Dear trailer owner, sorry for what I did to your trailer.
A number of people saw me nail your trailer and now they think I'm writing you a nice note with
my information so we can settle up. In reality, I just didn't want them snapping a photo of my
plate, so here's your note."

You meant to say 99.99999321% chance didn't you GnG?

Worse part of "public boatramps" is that "public" part!

Way off topic but I used to drag race my Mustang with a younger guy who used his 1991 LX hatch to tow his 18' bowrider. We used to laugh because he had a lower hanging trailer hitch on the back and when he would launch it came very close to dragging on the ground. He also towed a trailer with his track tires etc to the track!

Sorrt about the damage. Have had it happen to other trailers of mine and it's never fun.

Same guy walks his dog to your lawn, let the dog unload and moves on without picking it up.

I used to tow a 23' Mako CC with a hopped up 77 camaro. 4 speed. I'd do an easy burnout all the way up the wet ramp so I wasn,'t burning up the clutch. Good days. Had some jack wad steal the lights off the guide posts.

So is it safe to say we need a bounty on stupid and any of these acts should carry immediate death penalty and we get paid for service to the community. We don't have to catch all of them. Just enough the rest get the message. We have thieves because we tolerate them.

For the record my willingness to help just about anyone means when I see someone talking parts off a trailer, a flat etc. I offer to help. If it looks suspicious I get pics of both vehicles and trailer tags. If not on the level this sends them ballistic. If they aren't on the level I hang around until the cops arrive. If they attack me I introduce them to the 2nd amendment. Less paperwork if they don't testify.

Someone saw these happening and did nothing. It's a shame we are too selfish to help each other.
