New Mercury 450 sighting

So I know 90% of you are gonna say BS, pics or it didn't happen but you can believe me if you want. But the other day when running offshore out of Sebastian inlet roughly 2 miles offshore I came up on these three boats that are throwing huge rooster tails and hauling ass running north then made a loop and turned to head back south maybe making a 1/2 mile loop while I was trucking southeast running 40mph coming up to them. While I got closer I could tell they were running super close within 30ft or less to this other smaller CC that had a huge tower and could see two guys in the tower presumably taking pictures. The first boat passed in front of me going back north again and it was a mid 30ft racing cat fully wrapped in Mercury racing. I didn't think anything of it at this time but I didn't slow down and I went through the zone they were running on by the camera boat and the second boat identical to the first just a different color schemed wrap passed behind me and on the motor cowling plain as day right hand on the bible it said 450 Racing in the V8 shaped cowling with blue accents. Then directly behind that boat maybe 500ft back was a mid to upper 30ft Nortech looking mono hull that was fully wrapped as well with triple white Mercurys and I'm guessing they were the same motors just in a white variation. I didn't get close enough to that boat to tell but they were definitely all doing a photo shoot and they were all flat hauling ass. Easily 90-100mph plus but it was hard to tell just how fast they were going. Perfect conditions slight chop on the water early morning. The amount of water that was being thrown was insane. I can't wait to see the pictures of the shoot.

Mercury making race engines is news?

I heard on the grapevine from an industry insider a few boats for 2020 model year have now been homologated for triples with a total of 1350hp, so it would make sense, especially as Mercury offer the 400 Verado in normal trim.

I knew I was going to get shat on for this. That’s why it took me so long to post it. Definitely 100% saw them as well as all of my crew. It was a couple days before the cocoa beach thunder offshore races but I skimmed through all the pictures and never saw any boats that looked like the ones I saw. I couldn’t hear them I was running 40mph not really expecting to see what I saw but they definitely weren’t trying to hide it other then the fact they were outside of Sebastian Inlet which isn’t as populated as inlets are to the south and north.

Was one of the boats an orange cat? Heard a rumor there will be a rig here in NJ with a set of 450's on it sometime in July, after Mercury has fun with it

Im not saying that you are lying as i agree they will have a 450 out at some point but you were running 40 and they were running 90-100 and you could read the writing on the cowling?

Doug Wright Cats are made in Sebastian. They are very popular in offshore racing. Maybe just a coincidence that something was spotted in Sebastian a week before Cocoa Thunder races and it being the closest inlet to Lake X.
FWIW, I saw nothing with 450 stickers anywhere in the dry pits at Cocoa Thunder two weekends ago.

First, I do believe you
but, reading the "450" in small letters is hard to believe.
plus i highly doubt manufacturers would put the hp number on the cowling before its released during testing. During testing they dont even usually have any stickers on the cowl whatsoever

We've all known the higher HP V8s were coming, certainly no surprise they'd want pictures for the launch.

I’m not sure how they are planning on rolling out a new product if they can’t produce the current V8s in reasonable time. “20 months out” is what I am being told to get a 300 Verado V8.
