Default Taco Outrigger lost! Less than year old

Fished twice, yesterday we were in 2-3 foot seaas and the mushroom shaped keeper fell off and the port outrigger was lost forever! Along with half a premium kit and the keepers. Am soo pissed off.

Purchased sept 1 2018. Big loss!! Crappy design!! Anyone else lose any??

Had a buddy loose one on the highway. Did you not have your rigger clip connected to the boat? His wasnít rigged so nothing to keep it connected.

I had one fall off while trolling, but I somehow caught it in mid air before it hit the water. The line was still connected to to the boat, but it would've scratched the hell out of the hull and maybe even ended up in the props. On my friends boat, I gave him $100 for fuel, he actually gave it back to me for catching the rigger. Dumb luck, and mad fast hand skills
jdps150 and petty147 like this.

Don't think it's a crappy design as I know dozens of guys who have Taco outrigger's on their boat, but have never seen or heard of anyone losing one that was properly installed and rigged (although I guess I have now). If the pin wasn't pushed all the way through the mount & past the little keeper button it is possible for the pin to vibrate back out - that's why the keeper button is there. But if the rigging was installed properly the rigging would have held the rigger to the boat long enough for you to stop and retrieve it.

Brand new Gemlux carbon fiber rigger fell off while travelling on the highway last year. Pin came out. God must have felt sorry for me because amazingly it was laying on my deck. I now use zip tied through the pins.

The saga continues, They sent a new outrigger and rigging kit but silver silver instead of silver gold, I told then and they said they would sent correct one last week, no sign of it and no response from taco since then.. No reply to emails and no response to voicemails.

With as much as these things cost I want what I pad for.

Also if you own a taco set need to thread lock the keeper pin!!! They DO NOT come that way and my remaining one came apart in my hand was 1 thread left. Came that way! Missing much of the summer fishing with only 1 outrigger. Gues I gotta just take the silver silver and count my blessings. Thought taco was gonna make it all right.

I've bent and broken my share, but never lost one. Tough luck that.

Not to derail, but I'd like to prevent this. My pull knob is spring loaded and I can't imagine it would release on its own. Does anyone remove this part, through drill, and SS bolt through?

Need to thread lock the threads! Direct from Taco! Or they will come loose.

I lost one on the highway once. Taco was not as generous. They did sell me a single pole though so I didn't have to buy a pair

Sounds like they are taking pretty good care of you. Hope you get your new rigger soon.

Who fault was it? Yours or Taco's?

The Taco retaining pin must be a poor design...my buddy’s launched once while I was deploying it. Figured it was something goofy until seeing it happen to others. Still shouldn’t lose the rigger though unless runnning at a negative angle and the line not taughtly secure

Have the 280 base, pin spring and head separated and the port rigger was lost in a 2ft sea. After talking with Taco I took the stbd side apart and it was 1 thread form coming lose as well. Set was only 8 months old, fished twice. It came that way, I would have never guessed their retaining pin would just fall off.
