Default New spike or wrap for Power Pole

The spike on my power pole has deteriorated and has lots of splinters on it. I found it out the hard way trying to get beach chairs out of the boat and having it rake down my back a little. I was looking online at a replacement spike and saw the wrap as an option. Anyone else have a remedy this problem?

I put a heavy duty electrical 3/4 inch heat shrink on mine. No more splinters.

I wrapped mine but the wrap eventually pushed up and bunched up which really defeated the purpose. PP sent me a brand new one no charge. They rock.

Either get a large piece of shrink wrap or the PP factory spike wrap and use a heat gun to shrink it on the spike. Had to do this (I went with the factory wrap) after my kid grabbed the power pole spike at the sandbar. If the spike is super trashed you may want to start fresh with a new one.
