Default Looking for bay/offshore boat

Ok guys Iím trying to get opinions on what do you think is the best 27/28 foot boat with twins that I can guide out of in grand isle Louisiana for trout on the islands and bays but also be able to go offshore for tuna/snapper trips. Iím considering contender, ameracat, blue wave hybrid, Any help is much appreciated

Hey capt. Just giving you fair warning that some on here will crucify you for asking about a single boat to fish both inshore and offshore. Most of the posters will genuinely try to help but some will tell you itís simply not possible to do both.

Well I need opinions not asshole remarks so hopefully if they donít have an educated opinion they will keep it to themselves. FYI where Iím guiding at the trout fishing is not in marshes itís in 3 plus feet of water around islands, on beaches, and some rigs in state waters. So thatís what Iím needing opinions about. Thank you for the warning I appreciate it!

Don't be combative, you'll set the tone and it will go off the rails quick. Best bet is to ignore the replies you don't like instead of trying to get into a pissing match.

27' Sea Vee comes to mind as it is availible with twins. That might get the job done for you or maybe a Yellowfin hybrid?

I'd look at the Calcutta or Prowler.

I’ve always wondered why you don’t see more guys up your way running a Calcutta. They’re pricy and not a bunch of them around but sounds like it’s exactly what you’re looking for, as long as you’re not dead set on breaking speed records.

Been looking at this very situation for the last 5 + years. I will type up my response later.

28 Floridian
26 Hybrid Yellowfin
27 Young
26 Pathfinder
28 Blue Wave
27 Seavee
25 Contender.
27 Tidewater

there are are distinct differences in deadrise as well as Width gunnel height and weight.

On paper and performance and specs and value at the moment I am steering towards blue wave 2800

This week i get to see see several. more updates to follow.

How shallow are you needing to draft?

If thatís the case then Iíd think you can have your pick of boats in that size range. You really donít need a hybrid unless thatís the layout you want.
