I haven't had a claim, but they are fantastic to deal with. I can't say enough good stuff about Chad and the staff in the Jacksonville office. My polices aren't big money, but they treat me very well and make things easy, even when I try to complicate them. The best part is that they answer the phone and follow though...

I was going to move my last boat into a sling and had to get a letter from charter and they never mentioned a rate increase. Either way youíre one of the few I havenít of heard getting their policy bumped up. Iíll know in a few weeks. Depending on the amount I may stick with them just for the disappearing deductible etc

I love the fantastic feedback - has anyone actually filed a (major) claim with CL? How did they handle it?

4th year, little increase after Harvey . Great people to deal with so they keep my business for sure. No clue how the actual insurance company is, it was XL but they stopped doing rec boats so I was switched to someone else.

CL is an agent not an insurance company. They sell product and donít handle claims. It all depends on the company they sell you for how the claims are handled.

I've had CL for years with little or no increase year over year. Had an approx. $30K claim in 2014 for stolen electronics, and they couldn't have been better or easier to work with - reported the claim, adjuster came out, I sent some receipts in and a check arrived within a week.

Been with them 20 years. Charter boat insurance on 2 boats. Get a discounted rate through NACO.

Deductible is down to zero from the declining program. Easy people to work with and they have lots of extra things for the guys who charter.. They have even allowed me to drag my coverage over to another boat that I had to borrow during a breakdown on mine.

My boat got hit last year while at the dock. The others guys insurance stepped up but charter lakes was ready to get my back if I weren't made whole!

Thinking of switching to Markel. Have you had any issues with them?

Outside of the rising premium, no. I haven't had any claims against them.
