Default Contender 25 open livewell question.

On my 25 open the transome livewell drain is just a perforated round disk. It doesn’t appear to have anyway to stop it up to hold water. The boat is new to me but is a 99. Has anyone seen this in their 25 opens and have a way to stop it up to hold water?

Also, if I open the valve from the thru hull going to the livewells it overfills my livewell while on plane the pick up just pushes the water through the pipes do to water pressure. My old boat never did that. If you leave the thruhull open and make a long run it will fill the livewell and if that’s not plugged it will overflow into the bilge makeing the bilge pump cut on. If I do have the plug it overflows onto the deck.

Open the floor bilge hatch and look for a yellow handled seacock valve. It should be directly under the livewell, close that seacock to control and hold the water in your livewell.
