Well, I felt I needed to update this. We are down in Marathon for the week. Granted, you couldn’t find better weather, but the boat have performed really well. Those that gave the advice that this boat likes some tab, could not have been more right. Tabbed her down and it was a different boat. Was running 25-27mph offshore. Was night and day. Was, and still am considering moving up in size. Looking hard at a 27 Cape Horn. Seen pics, have never seen one in person. But interested in it. But, running this boat, with the tabs down, has me really thinking about keeping her.

Good to hear. That boat is a good little battle wagon. It's also a very dry boat.

Engine trim, tabs, and speed all need to be tuned to get the best possible ride for the conditions. Sometimes just a touch more/less of speed or tab can make a huge diff. You want to avoid catching the leading edge of a head sea wave past the sharp entry point of your bow, amongst other things to watch for.

26 and 20 is a big difference. Just like there's no substitute for displacement in an engine, there's no substitute for length in a boat.

this, I have a bay boat and I can use the engine trim and it feels like it holds its ground better than tabs alone. Maybe the stern lifting is different and that's what I feel?

Some people get nervous when trying new things and give up with out really giving it a chance. Glad to hear your making it work out.
