One thing is sure, Mercury is not going to let Seven (now owned by Volvo) or Yamaha eat alone the pie of the large outboard engine´s market, they are going to compete for that market and IMHO, they are going to win that battle and leave other brands with a residual market share ..........

Im with you! I think the jump to 5.8 would be the easiest increase in cubes to produce more HP with no change in anything else. I must admit the prospect of a boosted V8 would be very exciting though!
