I didn't know what he was at first but he is a shrike. Turns out they are some pretty interesting birds. Basically it's a small songbird that kills, mice, snakes, frogs, lizards, and other birds. But since they don't have strong legs and big talons like raptors they impale their prey on thorns and barbed wire then they pick away at the carcasses.

Not just a shrike, but a Loggerhead shrike. You folks down south have that grey colored shrike being the loggerhead and equally as beautiful as our northern subspecies aptly called........yep, you guessed it, the Northern Shrike which is paler without the grey back like the one in your pic but still with that same mask of Zorro and all the same killing habits.
