Very cool thread!

I need those boys to redo the midsection of foot of my motor. Would it help if I said I was a Baker Grad :-)?

Love this thread. Reminds me of my shop class back in school where I learned how to weld and be a machinist. We need more of this these days.

Absolutely!

A lot of school systems have deleted shop class.

We need parents to complain to their school boards.

Don't let the shop die!!!

Dang Tillman, what a great class but I gotta say, those burgers look horrible!!

Let me give you the offical USAF Burger-burn Pro Tip #1.

Take that big foil pan and dump a 2 liter bottle of lemon lime soda in it (whatever's cheap). Let it heat up a little then dump a pack or two of Lawry's Au Jus mix in there. Stir it up and start throwing your burgers in it as they get done cooking.

You'll be the life of the party and those kids will work twice as hard, guaranteed.

Thanks, will do. I guess they were burgers on a budget. Next time 100% beef and your recipe.

I do the same thing but instead of lemon lime soda, I use 2-3 cans of beer and a couple beef bullion cubes.

Default Expensive Taste

I allowed the students to do the research and pick the parts for the boat. I must say they do have expensive taste when it comes to spending my money . LOL
We are almost sure we are finished sanding and fixing any places on the hull.
We will do a final check on Monday and then comes the primer.

Default Fiberglass

The boys have the wall finished for the fuel tank. If you have any ideas other than foaming it please let us know. We also found the poppet vale that we left off so we installed it.

This is great. I would bet that you could start a class for grant-writing and get many of these parts for free. it is in the interest of all of these companies to have young people learn to work on them and a good write-off.

Default Boat

Thanks for the idea. But this boat is on me. It's my retirement boat. I am 27 months from having 31 years in this class.Just waiting on a former student to graduate college and take my place. But I will always be involved with the program. I will be the class fishing club sponsor and competing with other local high school fishing clubs in the area. There are already about 4 or 5 schools in our area with the clubs..You would be surprised to know how many kids 16 and 17 years old who have never been fishing.
