Those kids dont realize how lucky they are to be able to learn that stuff for free.

No the idea came from other Fountain owners. I do give them problems to solve and they really come up with good ideas

Looks like the coolest class ever. I would have been more interested in school if we had hands on classes like this.

These are the kind of high school students that should be on the news.

Best to these students and teachers!

Default Live well pump

The pump was mounted so close to the transom of the boat that it could not be reached so we decided to move it 18" forward. We installed a stainless pipe and I gave these two boys a problem. Find a way to support the pipe. They found a scrap piece of starboard and this is what they came up with. I think its a good idea. They want to epoxy the support to the bottom of the hull.

Default Stainless

Teaching the boys how to use a volt meter today. We needed to ohm out the fuel sending unit to make sure it wasn't the gauge or bad ground before we ordered a sending unit. Just replacing a few plastic hatches with stainless and the boys made a mess painting the inside of the box so they had to sand it all off and they will make another attempt today.
One thing I really try to put in the boys is do it right the first time and ok is not good enough. A paying customer wants it as perfect as it can be.

Default Boat

Was able to mount the house battery and a 3 bank charger. Next week we will make above the battery a removable storage area

^ I'm trying to figure out how that paint is defying gravity... Or is the battery mounted upside down...

Good work as always. Wish this class was available when I was I high school. Would've assisted with less trial and error later on in life.

Default Lol

LOL, Not sure myself. That's a Fountain question. We removed the cooler and there it was.
I think it is safe to say Fountain sprayed it out of the boat and then installed the leaning post.

Default Lesson

Good lesson this morning on electrical. How to measure volts and amps and size wire.
Also the reason to use marine tinned wire and terminals in a boat.
Made up a couple of cables for the house battery and started on the storage box under the leaning post.

Default Storage

Under storage box is complete. There are two lids that make the bottom. Pull them up and you can assess the house battery and charger.

Great job.
This thread has me thinking about upgrades to my boat. Any chance you'd like to take a class trip to New Jersey?

We need more of this, here on THT and in every community. Man the money this would have saved allot of us now if we had learned these skills when we were younger. Great work, the kids are very lucky.

Absolutely!!
To learn a skill like that at a young age is outstanding. Not to mention the opportunities that are out there in the boating industry.
