Best of luck to you at your State Convention.

I was on my school's FFA horticulture team as a sophmore. We won in Raleigh & went to KC. I ended up being an alternate on that team as at the state level it was a 4 person team, but the national convention was a 3 person team. Our 3 seniors all scored in the national top 5 (#1, 2, & 5 if I remember)...like I said, I was the alternate! LoL

Good luck to you and the kids.

OP - Do you know if there is an easier way to find programs locally that do this. I've got a smaller cargo trailer that needs to be repainted so I called three Votech programs in the area that I've found... all three of them won't do customer work due to ''liability'' anymore, and none of them could really point me in a direction.

Maybe I need to take a trip to Alabama.

Default Paint

They are correct. We are only allowed to work on students and employees projects.
The public don't understand the kids are training and you may have to spend more money for them to practice than if you had taken it to the body shop. Even my boat hull we went through 4 gallons of paint at 148 a gallon before the students got it right.
Thanks
Tony

Tillman,

Any updates on you and your class as the school year ends? How's the boat working out?

Boat turned out great we are using it as much as possible. We are at Auburn University today competing in the Small Engines State finals. Will post pics of the boat and competition on Friday when we return to Mobile.

Good luck!

These kids are lucky to have a good teacher. I'm sure THT could come through if any of these kids need mentors for the future

Default 1st Place

These boys sure made me proud to be their teacher today.
The team won 1st place in the state and Quinton Zirlott received highest score in the state.
The competition consisted of 100 written questions.Twenty five problem solving questions and the hands on was to troubleshoot and repair a carburetor, Repair a starter with recoil, adjust the valves on an engine and troubleshoot and repair an ignition problem
Now it's time for us to put some hours on our flats boat.

FFA is a great program. Wouldn't trade my high school days in FFA. Today I am a shooting coach for our FFA shooting team. There are many things you can do as a chapter/class and schools tend to focus on one or two areas while doing all the competitions and activities available. My local high school's main focus is ag/hort and the shooting teams. Really good program that requires a strong FFA/Ag teacher. Ya'll obviously have one Here in NC ag focus and shooting team competitions are big and competitive.
