I followed this thread from the beginning... what an awesome experience for these kids. So good to see teachers investing in the lives and accomplishments of their students. School should be more like this.. Awesome job sir! If you are ever close to Myrtle Beach, please give me a call and let me take you fishing. I would like to pay you back a little of your investment in these kids..

Will be splashing the boat Friday and adding water pics and video. Can't decide to add a trolling motor or not. The students came up with a poling platform design . The guy building it said it would be the end of Feb before he can get to it .We are on his list.
Cant wait to start fishing with my student
Lumberman, thanks for the offer and king words. I just may show up on your porch if I ever get down that way.

I can't imagine having that boat without a trolling motor.

Your kids did a great job Tillman! A great program that I hope continues well after your retirement.

I thought we were finished but my students said there is a few things they wanted to change. They wanted to add guide poles and they didn't like the roller brackets sticking below the trailer cross members. They are taking them off and cutting them to match the cross members. I guess I will buy a trolling motor. Just have to decide the great white or I-Pilot. We also have two tractors to build and restore.

I have one question.

How many people have to die before I can buy that Ford tractor on post #202?

Great work!

I am a shop teacher in MD...so I know the hard work you put in.

We would NEVER be allowed to take on projects like this! We're pretty much exclusively 'engineering' based small projects. We used to be able to do cool things, but no more.

When did you say you were retiring?

Looks like 23 months. I have a former student attending Auburn University that will take my place. As soon as he graduates I will retire and turn it over to him. I will always be involved with the program.

Must be quite a student. Seems to me he has BIG shoes to fill when he steps in.

If you guys want to follow alone. We are setting the valves on the John Deere that we just built the engine on. The Ford is still coming apart The young 85 year old man uses the cub to rake pine straw in his 10 acre yard. The rake is now to heavy for him to lift for dumping so we are building a winch and mount so all he has to do is push a button for dumping. The man that owns it was my high school mechanics teacher in the late 70s and early 80s.
