Mavic, even the extra batteries lose charge over a month or so

They are designed to do that. You do not want to leave them at full charge. They are default set to discharge to storage at 10 days. You can only make that discharge time shorter. You will destroy the batteries if they did not discharge automatically or by flying them down to 30-50% for storage more than 10 days. Most of us set them to discharge at 3 days.

I need to try more headless mode flying and the patrol features

thanks for the feedback, good to know, wait for the next few generations or DIY waterproof a phantom
That pic is right out of lightroom. I had to reduce the quality to 15% to upload it to THT

I finally got the renewal for an authorization today. It took awhile but I am happy. i asked for .5 mile radius over a specific area. They gave me the whole Class C for the airport. They said to look at the grid and follow the heights for those specific areas.

I also filled out a Class E for a specific area. I did it a week before the new sectional chart was released. the new chart removed the Class E for that area. It was an old airfield that no longer existed. I was granted Class E for the whole area saying to follow the grid again. i dont' think there is any other Class E around the airport. i'll have to look

Well done, that will be their new saying "follow the grid"!

I went thru a cell tower inspection training class this week, I learned a lot. There is a definite intimidation factor flying so close to tall structures especially while it was raining. I was flying a DJI M200 that is somewhat water resistant. Here is a short video.

porcha and FlyDude like this.

so i steered the wife in the right direction for the holiday season

Target had a good deal going -- Spark was $349 and you saved $20 per $100 spent

Added a battery to bring total up to $400 -$80 * .95(target credit card) = $320 with tax for new DJI Spark and extra battery

i know i know, i should've spent twice that and just got a mavic but wife wants a baby and this is more reasonable and "cute"

Anyone have a Yuneec Q500 4K? I was offered one plus cash for something I'm selling. Already turned it down but might reconsider if they're decent.

You've got a micro SD card in the drone? formatted? video cache settings? I left mine at 2G and running a 32gb card. You're using a controller or phone app? I haven't pressed record through the app, only via the left button on controller -- no issues. I assume its up to date as well else it wouldn't let you take off

haven't seen one in person but they're trying to replicate the phantom with that model. Not sure how it performs next to the phantom, if they're valuing that yuneeq ($500 new) drone at $300 -- I'd rather just get a phantom 3 or spark. I know the DJI products have infrastructure 10+ satellites in most areas to help the gps on the drones hold position. Not sure how the yuneeq gets its data. You've also got US based DJI support, probably not so much for the yuneeq

now if you're getting it for ~$200 i may lean toward the yuneeq. A used drone is a "crashed at some point" drone.

yes they're awesome -- i'll be happy to demo it in the NC mountains...but seriously, start watching youtube videos on how to get the fullest. Going to take a lot of practice before you're chasing your boat out of the inlet and following the spread offshore

I have a 64gb card in there. I’m all updated. I am pressing record through the app. I will try it from the controller next time to see if that does it. Thanks for the advise.
