Loving my 28' straight-shaft. Cruising at 28MPH isn't too bad

Not just yet, but trying to work on another project. Or if possible something I can put together with WW.

Interesting; going with a more commercial whitewater?

I am coming from a 22 Pathfinder and while towing the boat was different/bigger, operating the boat around docks and ramps is pretty easy once you get used to it! This boat had NO cup holders anywhere so I am getting ready to install 4 Oval Mate Series rod/cup holders in 30* to match what was own the boat. This past weekend I installed a Powermania Turbo M220V2 Dual Bank Waterproof Onboard Charger 12/24V DC 20 Amp as there was no way to charge the batteries if needed. I am

If I recall correctly when we were taking my friend's WW for it's test ride a few year's back, Norm said something to the effect of - 'Why would you want cupholders? You don't put your beer down before its finished, do you?'

Has anyone here put a center rod holder screwed to their transom? I would like to have one in the center, to troll out of. I have the transom live well, so through bolting, and backing plates aren’t an option. Is there enough meat there to screw it, without penetrating the livewell? Will screws and 4200 hold it for high speed trolling?

Shane you mean on the transom wall? Or on top of the gunnel on the Transom?

Previous owner of my boat installed the rodholder you are talking about and it sticks into the livewell unfortunately; that area has actually either become soft or doesn't feel like it was reinforced as strongly as the rest of the cap (haven't looked into it much yet)

Do you have the bait boxes on either side?

I'm trying to post a picture but website wont uploaded it for some reason

I want one that mounts on the outside of the transom and is held in by 4 screws. I don't want to go into the live well. There are no bait boxes. I finally heard back from Whitewater and they said I could use a 2 inch screw without penetrating the live well. I'm not sure, if that's enough to troll from. What do yall think?

personally, if I were to do what you're proposing I would only troll light stuff. No 30 wides or high speed wahoo stuff. Light tackle set with light drags would probably be ok.

Yeah I see that for live bait king mackerel fishing a lot but would never use it for high speed trolling.

Drill all the way thru into the livewell and do a backing plate with through bolts . Just seal the wood in transom with epoxy before hand and then also just use nice smooth finishing nuts ( Acorn nuts)on the inside . That would have no sharp edges in the livewell and would be up high in the well so it would not have an adverse effect on the baits at all .

I have a rodholder welded centerline on my leaning post that works great for what you are looking to do

Thanks for all of the feedback, guys. I think I may just continue to troll from the leaning post for now.
