Default Boatpix

I was cruising down the waterway a month or so ago and saw the boatpix.com helicopter. Came close and got a few pics of the boat. So of course curiosity got to me and I sent off for the proofs. Got them today and they are awesome shots but the pictures are HUGE!!! They are 16x20." Of course they are expensive, its not even the price that I mind. I just don't know what I would do with such a huge picture. They sent three different images, all were 16x20, and I like two of the three pictures. I probably would have bought them if they were 8x10 size. I am thinking of calling them and seeing if they would make me an 8x10. Has anyone ever done this? Do you think they will do this? I know they used to offer 8x10s, now I gather the 16x20 is the smallest size the have.

They have other sizes. Should have had a order form in the package.

you better hurry up and send them back if you don't want them or you will be charged for all of them.

They took pictures of me once. I filled out the form online, but couldn't find prices. Went to FAQ and saw the prices, so never requested the photos be sent. 3 months later I get an Email with all the proofs and much cheaper prices and options.
I would send them all back, and wait a few months for an Email with cheaper prices first, if you are in no rush of course.

They got me a few years ago. The one shot I really liked had the boat listing to one side as it came down a wave. I called them up and asked if they could straighten out the picture. They did and it looks great. You could never hire someone to take aerial pictures of your boat for anywhere near the price they charge. My only complaint is that they have not captured my new boat yet.

I'm looking at three 8 X 10's of my boat from boatpix so, yes they'll sell smaller prints.

As mentioned, they offer all different sizes and options, Xmas cards, business cards, wallet, you name it. However, if I remember correctly, you must purchase one of the biggins and order the additional items.

I have had all 3 of my boats shot from boatpix - after they shoot me I just go to their website, describe where and when they shot me, and they contact me. Of the 3 times they shot me, I bought twice. The third was just not good enuf pics.

I wish they would come to the S. Jersey shore. The guy I bought my boat from up near NY had a couple from them and they looked great. Love to get some of my own. Expensive but worth it for that one shot in a million. They seem to get a lot of those.

I flew for them years back. The operation is based out of West Palm but they do send their birds to the northern reaches during the warmer months.

I'd recommend to do as Glen says and check their website after you've been attacked...errrrr.....photographed..

And Jamis...the things we would see!! (but couldnt always photograph)

Sounds like a great photo op to me. But I would have a hell of a lot of explaining to do.

They are in Jersey several times a year. Always at the big tournaments at the start........I have been shot 4-5 times in the past couple of years....Purchased once so far but would do it again if the right photo apears...............I usually just get a post card in the mail saying shots were available then I ask to see them.....

I'm the President of BOATPIX.com and appreciate all the great comments. You can contact me at TM@BOATPIX.com or 561-346-2816 about suggesting an event like a fishing tournament. We do most of the SKA, ASA, WBS events but plenty of just being on patrol and photographing every boat that moves. In the offseason we do sent a letter out to folks saying we have pictures. The prices are the same when we send prints out or email proofs. The prints is the more premium service. Call me if you have any questions. You can also click on the "events" section of the website to suggest an event.

The first time I had heard of this company, I thought it was a bit odd that they'd just fly around taking pictures of boats. I have to admit it's an interesting idea, and the pictures I've seen have been good.

Funny, if a helo were shadowing me while I was out running the first thing I'd do is stop...
