awesome pics, I have one a little over a year old. Every time I take him to the boat, he just looks at me like, when are we going to use this thing. Great breed of dogs.

Hey the dog can swim, make them behave, sure they want to jump in, but no is no. I had 2 Goldens on my boat, each sadly for only 10 years but never had a persever on them. They did fall out of the dingy because I let them when they were pups, just trying to teach them, jump out and swim, stay in and no problem. Never saved them, when pups I let them get tired, then pulled them out, wanted to teach them.

If they are around the water, make sure that they can swim. A Golden can, and the jacket will make it hot, and it does not need it. Nice to see someone taking care though.
Take it swiming, make sure it can, then say no when it wants to jump in, I did it with 2 dogs, both knew no was no, both also knew I would take them swiming later.

He is actually very well behaved on the boat and will not jump in. The jacket is for safety reasons only. I just completed off lead training with him and he did excellent, the trainer even commented that he was one of the best dogs to ever go through his program. My last golden was quite the opposite but I never did the formal group training like I have with this one. Don Stirling at Quail Rush Kennels in Medford, Long Island is where I went for this training, I recommend it to anyone that owns a dog.

I, for one don't like the jackets much either. In some cases I think they are great. If the dog did jump over, then handle on the top makes it 10000 times easier to lift a big dog back into the boat for one. It doesn't seem real hot in any of those pics either.

Yeah, I wouldn't think it's too hot in Long Island NY right now...

I actually had to wear a winter hat while I was out there that afternoon! That's OK though, lousy weather keeps the crowds away.
