Nothin finer than a walk thru at Merritt's. I've seen Promise up here in CT, but not recently.

I saw that Cutnail is for sale.

Looks like the old Chunda there? There are two shots of another express before Chunda, is that also a Merritt does anyone know?

Venture,
The pic of the large express under construction is a 58' Merritt with no particular buyer as of October. The rumor at that time was J. Buffett was thinking about it. I didn't like it at first, but the more time I spent crawling around on it, it grew on me.

He's still got the 42' Rybo Express I believe.

You cannot beat the lines of a Merritt, fine boats they are.

But they have wood in them...must be junk LOL

Anyone who says wood shouldn't be in boats needs to walk those docks once, they will NEVER EVER mutter those words again.

Rybo18,

A spec 58 Express Merritt? Suprising. I am sure it is spectacular though.

The music business folk really like their Merritt's, don't they?

There was a smaller express boat in the pics before the 58. Any idea who made that one?

Thanks

Question, if Carolina boats have such great lines, why isn`t RumBum a Carolina boat??
The express that looks to be 36` to 40` is that a Merritt ??

Can anyone just walk in there and start looking? I've been wanting to see those boats for some time.

Can't,
The Merritt people are extremely friendly. You can walk down the covered docks, but it may help if you visit the ship store first and buy yourself a few t-shirts. When they see you walking around the yard with a Merritt bag they are less likely to give you a hard time. One of the yard workers gave us a full tour of the 58' express being built and he had no idea who we were - super nice guy.

The 58 express was the last one pulled from the 58 mold before they put the mold out of service. It was to be Roy Jr's new ride (he has the blue 33 W/A above) . So it was more of project play boat, but then J. Buffett wanted to buy it, but for whatever reason it fell through. Still very incredible works of art in my eyes!

I saw two Merritts on their way north fueling up. One was a 72 footer called "Owls Nest," had a dark blue hull. The other was an express, I forget the name, but it also had a dark blue hull. The boats were absolutely stunning, works of art.

Owl's Nest is kept near me actually in Sag Harbor, NY; see it pretty frequently. Absolutely stunning boat!
