A short list of islands that are south of the hurricane belt, could you live on one full time?
Was stationed in Hawaii 2004-2007, deployed a few times while there so I was not there straight through.

It really started feeling lock a rock sometimes, it's tough when the nearest mainland is a 4 hour $500 flight and that's to LA.

Unless I had reliable, fast, and cheap transportation to the mainland, I couldn't do it for more then a year or so.
