Maybe I'm confusing matters here about the circuit breakers. I disconnected the connection on the first breaker on the line and that is what caused the rest of the switches to lose power. I'm sure you are correct in saying that if all the connections are good and the breaker itself pops on the first in the line then the rest of the switches/breakers downstream will still operate correctly.
