My son is taking 2 AP classes, in calculus, etc. as a sophomore. I believe the school pushes them in that direction for their own gain and statistical standings. Though my son has always gotten excellent grades, we will be recommending he take lower level classes in the future. Unfortunately from our discussion with other families, the work loads are excessive in non AP classes as well. (My sons greatest work load thus far has been from his non-AP courses). I want my son to experience life outside the classroom and books. To me there are equal lessons to be learned.
