Default Chrip...how big of an upgrade?

I currently have a Simrad NSS8 attached to a 50/200 khz skimmer transducer. In shallow water (<50 feet) just drifting the definition is OK; however, when I am underway trolling at 7-8 MPH in 150-200 feet, all I get is a bunch of noise on the sounder.

We fish both inshore (sea bass, fluke, stripers) and offshore (tuna) on cape cod.

How big of an upgrade would it be to add the chirp transducer to my setup?
What is the optimal set up for the money?
