I also have the BGE, XL. Going on 8 years - we love it and it's one hell of a cooking tool. Gasket advice above is spot on. If you're going above 600 degrees, you'll certainly need to upgrade the standard gaskets. I believe this will be true with any of these large ceramic smokers/cookers.
