Good for you making the decision to get off of the couch and move. It will extend you life and contribute to your quality of life in the long run. When I started running I paid attention to the shoes but forgot one key element. Socks. Yes socks make a huge difference. Get some nice running socks and you will know what I am talking about. We alternate days. 4 mile run one day and 4 mile walk the other day. The socks have greatly helped both forms of exercise.
