I recently replaced my Honeywell stat with a new programmable stat. Was having prob with short cycling and very small deadband or swing value and no minimum off timer. Stat had fixed deadband of .25 degrees. System would come on for 3 minutes, go off for 20 seconds, come on for 3 minutes, etc. I guess a super tight swing value works with a well insulated home. Mine is marginal at best and is on stilts with no floor insulation.

I set the swing value on the new stat to 1.25 degrees and it made a huge difference in cycling and humidity control. Hopefully I can save a few bucks and extend the life of the equipment as well by eliminating the short cycling. Have it set up for 4 program periods per day and it really does help with remembering to setback the stat in the morning when I leave.
