CME, just curious, if i added the chirp module for the new display, why would the DSM 300 still be necessary?

Also, which transducers would be compatible for chirp? The existing transducer is an in-hull and I'd like to stick with in-hull if possible for ease of installation.
Performance. The only CHIRP sonar Raymarine has that would outperform a DSM300 is the CP450C and that gets into price considerations.
