Union dues are tax deductable.Generally they are based on a percentage of gross wages,before anything is deducted for fica etc. there is usually another charge added for the National Union on top of the local.The elected leaders of the largest unions in the U.S. are avowed communist and socialists by definition and declaration.They have become merely collection agencies for the democratic party and the more "progressive" the democrats agenda,the better the union leadership likes it. The sad part is the average worker that has to pay to be able to have a job,but does not share in the political agenda of the unions.
