A note on the side (T Bone) impacts. The neck has a lot less lateral (side) support, so on the side impacts the spine is damaged easier. The Hans device stopped this in the NASCAR circuit. RIP Earnhardt. I've worked EMS (Paramedic) for 24 yrs. It's always amazed me that vehicles will get torn to pieces but the person won't have a scratch but the next maybe a minor fender-bender but the person dies. I am a firm believer in, "When it's your time".
