Default Summer fishing the keys

My job moved me down to the keys last August, so most of my fishing has taken place over the winter and early spring. Caught a good amount of sails, kings, and wahoo. But having quite a few cutoffs, I started rigging with wire more, especially if I am out past where sails should be.

The question I have is now that summer is here, should I drop the wire all together and go to straight mono on my rigs? Do the toothy critters stay down here during the summer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
