Excellent advice. That is what the guys at GEMECO told me to do when I bought my TM260 and TM270 2 years ago. The Raymarine one cost me an additional 50 bucks over the Garmin one due to ?. I also have convenient access to the connections and have switched the transducer in between my E series and Garmin series displays depending on what and where I am fishing.
I have been on Garmin's ass about giving us a software upgrade to include pre-sets for Sonar and Radar mode settings. Pre-sets for sonar come in handy for fishing the same areas and radar to be able to be able to create modes for harbors, offshore, near shore and even birds if you desire.
