That sort of thing is VERY common in the freight business. It is very simple. Most of the people who drive/haul have very little business acumen -- they know how to drive, they don't know much about marketing or the like... without the guy getting them the work, they would be driving for somebody else, being paid by the mile.

When you think it about, it is a nice gig on both sides. The guy who drives, is doing what he loves, and the guy making the deal is doing the same.

Granted. I'd rather be the guy on the computer side... but then again, I like being with my family.
