As I recall the tubes are different sizes. It looked like it was in a ratio of 3 to 1.

All you have to do is push the plunger in each tube down the same amount. I hope that make sense. If you are really concerned, you could push out the amount needed out of one tube, then measure the distance the plunger went down, then finally push the other plunger down the same distance.

It's funny how those supply shops are. When I went to buy my supplies, the guy looked at me like I was crazy when I asked how much the gun was. He was like just mix it yourself...

I am pretty sure the guys at your shop are not just concerned with doing the "right" thing. If they were they would let you "borrow" the gun.
