Default Has anyone installed an ice maker in a freezer that wasn't equipped for one?

I have an ice maker in the new LG refrigerator/freezer we just bought for the kitchen. There is no way to get a water line to the refrigerator so I want to remove the ice maker unit and put it into the GE freezer in my garage. I'm tried of buying ice during the summer when I go fishing and the ice maker isn't doing anything since I can't get a water line to it so I got the brilliant idea of putting it into my garage freezer where I can easily get a water line to.

Has anyone installed an automatic ice maker into to a freezer that wasn't made for an ice maker? Is something that I should try? How complicated is it to do? Does it matter if the brands of freezers are different?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Russ
