Default Re: slide in truck camper

We bought a Lance Squire 8000 new in 95 and have traveled thousands miles around the country in it. The camper wt. is about 3K and I installed timbren on both front and rear on a 2003 chev. 2500HD 4w. mileage is about 10 -12 miles / gal. Ride is very stable. You can not go wrong with a Lance or Northstar. My camper will be around long enough to wear out a second new truck.

Ridgerunner that is great mileage, what is your dry wt. and what do you have in your truck?
My camper as about 2500 dry and it has a 20 gallon water tank. I am probably around 2900-3000 loaded. My truck is a 2wd F350, 7.3 PSD, 4R100 automatic, 3.73 in the diff. I have 4" mufferless exhaust and a 90 hp performance program running in the PCM. The key to great fuel millage is keeping the tach under 2000. BTW, I was not bashing Lance. I just get great service from Northstar so I plug them when I can.

My truck is paid for and if I had it to do over I would have bought a crew cab 4wd instead. I see quite a few campers on 4wds on the beach at the OBX. I will probably trade in 10-15 years.
