After they try t9 clean out major root passages , they swap it with bleach to try to kill bacteria, pack it with rubber, close it up. But passages and tubes in tooth harbor bacteria forever..that can cause real health problems.
Sorry forgot to mention my tooth with the root canal has a crown. In fact, my dentist just replaced that crown, it's probably been about 12 years or so since the root canal. Just saying no issues so far with it. From what I understand, it is a common procedure.
