Eight of us from NC did a trip to Venice in March of 2014. Great group, we had an absolute blast! You may want to touch base with thechumbucket (Capt Todd Skeen). He’s a helluva fisherman and all around good guy. He organized our trip and could probably give you a few pointers. We trailered two boats down (29’ dual inboard CC and 26’ cat) and stayed on a houseboat at Venice Marina. It was epic, to say the least .... here’s just a sample of our adventures ...

Agree with the comments above. That fog is scary and unpredictable. Radar is an absolute must, I wouldn’t run down there without it. Our first day we had a local guide on one of the boats. He led us safely down Tiger Pass & out into the Gulf. After that we were comfortable running in & out by following the track on the plotter.
