Venice in the winter is a very dangerous place for someone unfamiliar with the area. Weather is usually rough and the fog is some of the worse I've ever seen. The river can be treacherous and the passes should not be run without a known recent track. Don't want to discourage you as the tuna fishing is great, but local knowledge down there is priceless. Do a search in the Gulf Coast forum on Venice, there is a ton of info at your fingertips.
