I own both types. Both have been very reliable. 2006 Df225 with about 1800 hours. 2017 Df300 with about 750 hours.
I have not had any problems with my C10 display; offers more info than the old style round gauges and frees up dash space.
Digital shift and throttle is silky smooth. Troll mode is outstanding for slow trolling because of 50rpm increments. This is hard to do with mechanical controls.
Networking the Suzuki with GPS for mpg information to optimize cruise is important to me. Assuming you can do this with either engine, the choice comes down to this:
1) If slow troll and Troll Mode is important to you then buy digital
2) otherwise, buy mechanical and probably save $$.
